Ninth International Workshop on Simulation

The Department of Statistics and Operation Research of the Polytechnic University of Catalonia in collaboration with the Statistics Department of the Barcelona University, the Department of Statistical Modelling of Saint Petersburg State University and INFORMS Simulation Society are sponsoring the 9th International Workshop on Simulation.

This international conference is devoted to statistical techniques in stochastic simulation, data collection and analysis of scientific experiments and studies representing broad areas of interest. The 1st- 6th Workshops took place in St. Petersburg (Russia) in 1994, 1996, 1998, 2001, 2005 and 2009, the seventh in June 2013 in Rimini, and the eight in September 2015 in Vienna.

The Ninth Workshop will take place in the UPC Campus of Polytechnic University of Catalonia in the cosmopolitan city of Barcelona in June 25-29, 2018. A book of abstracts will be available at the beginning of the Conference. There will be also interesting cultural programs and excursions.

Please, make sure that it is choosen "Special Issue - Barcelona2018" as the manuscript type in Simulation and Computation (LSSP), when completing your submission.

Special issues

Selected papers from the workshop (of size 8-15 pages) will be published in special issues of two journals: "Statistical Papers" and "Communication in Statistics". The papers should be prepared according to journal requirements and pass the standard reviewing process.

The submission deadline for the special issue in "Communication in Statistics — Simulation and Computation" is December 31, 2018. Please, make sure that it is choosen "Special Issue - Barcelona2018" as the manuscript type in Simulation and Computation (LSSP), when completing your submission.

The submission deadline for the special issue in "Statistical Papers" is April 1, 2018; the submission is CLOSED now. Papers should be submitted to http://www.editorialmanager.com/stpa/default.aspx with indicating "SI: Mathematical and Simulation Methods" for the type of submission. The issue will be published by the end of 2018. Since the number of papers in the special issue is limited it is necessary that the paper for this issue has been included in one of the invited special sessions and be recommended by the session organizer. It is assumed that no more than one paper from each of the sessions will be recommended for the special issue. By submitting a paper to the special issue in "Statistical Papers", the author(s) agree that, if their paper is accepted, at least one author will register to attend the conference (by April 1, 2018) and present the accepted paper.

• Excursion: Tuesday, June 26, Half-Day Excursion. Barcelona tour by bus. Stops to take a beautiful picture: Montjuic, Passeig de Gràcia, Sagrada Família, Gòtic.
• Conference Dinner: Wednesday, June 27, Restaurant Bravo at W Barcelona
  Restaurant Bravo where Catalan chef Carles Abellán cooks up the true essence of each local ingredient in its freshest, seasonal, and most authentic form. Enjoy this culinary experience in a the private spaces with the spectacular terrace overlooking the sea.
  The conference dinner is open to attendees and guests, although it is not included in the conference fee and requires a separate payment. If you registered and paid in advance the ticket will be included in your registration envelope. There may be a limited number of tickets available on site at a cost of 72 Euros.
